BOBBY BOWES
After graduating from San Jose State University, San Jose, California, with a BFA in Spatial Arts, Bobby Bowes founded the Bay Area Glass Institute [BAGI], a non-profit glass center in California. He received the prestigious Jim Lundberg Scholarship and the Richard T. Buck Memorial Scholarship for his mastery in glass art. His artistry includes blown glass as well as sculpted multi-media creations. Since 1996, he has been the instrumental force behind a major fund-raiser for the Palo Alto Art Center during with BAGI sells over 3,000 of his glass pumpkins and gourds to support the Children's Art Programs in Silicon Valley.
Bowes has been a contributor to the Pilchuck Glass School Annual Auction and the Inaugural Great Glass Auction in Menlo Park. He was a student at Pilchuck in Seattle, Washington during the summer of 1999, and studied with prominent glass artists such as Dale Chihuly and Lino Tagliapetra. His work is currently in a permanent exhibit at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C..
